Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' the first artist of female gender on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music online in the year 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later that year, as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. The news was released on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP, on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. She also appeared in two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed followed by a video in September. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on the 16th of November. It was then released as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first 7 days. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
